Paradise Awaits
We returned to Casa Velas for the 2nd year in a row & we were even more happy with our stay this time! It s the most quiet & peaceful resort we have ever stayed at. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, this is the place to go! The grounds & accommodations are beautiful & the staff could not be more helpful and pleasant! We will be back at Casa Velas again!

A Honeymoon Well Spent
We spent our honeymoon here and couldn't have been happier. Everything from the staff to the bathroom cleanliness was excellent. The food was delicious, the pool and beach club were gorgeous, and the service was incredible. We also used the spa for a couples treatment and were dazzled by the amenities and staff. The location and security were also fantastic. Very close to the marina and it's nightlife, while being only a short drive from the central Puerto Vallarta boardwalk. Finally, the on-site activities were a joy. Each night there was a new theme (e.g. a "Cuba" night, a casino night, etc.) and we loved them all. It was a truly wonderful experience and I wouldn't recommend staying anywhere else.

Casa Velas Pelicanos 311 | Marina Vallarta, Puerto Vallarta 48354, Mexique

not nearly as wonderful as prevous visits is it a victim of success?

We just returned from our 3rd visit to Casa Velas. The resort is every bit as gorgeous as before, immaculately maintained. The staff very friendly and attentive. However, based on several incidents this past week, I am beginning to wonder if perhaps Casa Velas may now be a victim of its' own success. At first, I decided to ignore the various minor 'issues' I did not want to be whine-y, and was certainly grateful for the opportunity to be there, but after having listened to many different conversations among guests who were experiencing similar issues (at the bar, pool etc) during our week, a somewhat wide-spread pattern of problems began to emerge which, in the past, I don't think would have happened. After reading some TripAdvisor reviewers who also experienced similar problems last week, I think it IS important readers become aware all is not perfect there anymore. We loved Casa Velas, which is why we kept returning. This year, initially we did not get the room we thought we had reserved. This was rectified late the following day, so that problem was resolved. There was at least one day when the room was not made up nor cleaned until 5:30pm. We began requesting this service at 3pm, when it was apparent an "early" cleaning was not to be. Taking a nap, or even a shower, was not possible (there were no clean towels). On other days, the evening 'turn-down' service arrived about 5:30 pm while we were preparing to dress for dinner. We had never experienced this before at Casa Velas, and wondered if perhaps there were simply too many guests for the staff to manage in the efficient manner we had come to expect. We were strongly encouraged to dine at the new Grand Velas in Nuevo, and after hearing excellent reviews from other guests, decided to go. However, there was no room for us in the van and we waited almost an hour for another to take us there, arriving well past our reservation time. Casa Velas called Piaf to hold our reservations, which they did. Friends with whom we had planned to go to Piaf waited there for us before ordering. They had tried to leave the van and wait with us at Casa Velas, but were not permitted to do so, making us wonder...whose vacation was this? The meal at Piaf was wonderful, but the inefficient and rude handling of our getting there was a far cry from the level of professionalism to which we had grown accustomed. Earlier stays at Casa Velas had spoiled us! I am beginning o suspect our high expectations of Casa Velas, based upon our previous stays, may be too difficult for the current management to meet. Service at Emilianos ranged from wonderfully attentive to downright poor. Getting a simple glassof water was frequently difficult. There were many negative rumors floating around the resort among guests. The most persistent one was that the resort was totally full, and therefore lacked staff and the organizational or administrative capacity to handle. Other guests expressed concern that in addition to being understaffed, some employees seemed to be concerned about the stabilityof their jobs. I do not know if these rumors were factual. In the several years we have been coming to Casa Velas, this was the very first time I heard ANY grousing, let alone a lot....As I said, these were rumors. This is what I mean by my comment that perhaps Casa Velas has become a victim of success..the consistent glowing reviews may have set too high a standard. I cannot disagree with most of the recent reviews...both the good and the bad. Casa Velas is beautiful, the grounds are gorgeous, staff wonderful. It is the perfect getaway for folks like us. It is small. quiet, no children, no silly pool games. But for the first time I'm afraid I was somewhat disappointed with some details which, in a resort with lower standards, would not have been seen as a problem We most likely will return, but the next time we will not be so surprised when EVERYTHING is not perfec

Not all positive

We just returned from staying at Casa Velas. Checking in was wonderful, however, our "guarantee" of a king room was not available. They put us in a room with two double beds in the main building, and it was beautiful. Clean, flat screen TV, small plunge pool. However, since we felt like we did indeed want a king bed, we asked to be moved the next day. What a mistake! We checked out of our room at 9 am. Finally, at 5 pm they told us our room was "ready". Our next room was hideous! Broken toilet for 6 hours. Blind was missing a slat and we were on the main level. (I solved the blind problem by putting a towel over the window! The maid saw it daily!) Hole in the wall by the jacuzzi. Cracked marble vanity. Just old and very tired looking. I thought the fan would behead us in the middle of the night, it shook so bad. The plunge pool was filthy. Nothing at all like the picture. I will share pictures with anyone who is interested. The room we had was 511A. I really don't think this room was supposed to be rented but all the Velas properties were full over the week we were there. We asked NUMBEROUS times to have things fixed. We were even told that it would be looked at by one of the owners direct reports and that they would get back to us. Nothing from anyone. The toilet was fixed that night, thank goodness and fan were fixed on the next day, but they only turned the speed down on the fan so it shook less. They also cleaned the plunge pool. On check out our bill was incorrect by over 500 pesos because someone signed a slip and they billed it to us. Although I tried to have it corrected, we still had to pay the tip. So, PLEASE, check your room. They do have amazing rooms but they also have some just terrible ones. The amenities are wonderful. Food was great, people fantastic.. Just hated going to our room. It felt like we were at a three star hotel! On check out they asked for our input and I basically asked them to fix the room before renting it again. They promised!!!!!! Surprise, as we were waiting for the van to take us to the airport, people were being taken to the room. Unless they moved VERY fast that morning, I can't see everything being fixed. Maybe we will hear back and have an apology, if we do, I will post it as well. It was just sad, that because they overbooked their king rooms, they had this problem. We were not the only ones that moved once, some moved three times! I just couldn't see putting any more days of vacation on hold to pack and unpack and wait for them to have a room for us. Do not do the time share with Stephano unless you have at least 2 - 3 hours. They move you from one table to another, one salesperson, to another. They just keep on pressuring you, even if you say no, they keep on trying. They keep your promised "freebies" as a reason for you to keep on moving to another salesperson. Really, although the gifts sound nice, they do have a catch. The only one we used was the massage and I could have paid for it myself at $90 and saved the morning for enjoying my husband and the beach! Benny, bartender at the lobby, is amazing. Freddy makes a really neat "pineapple surprise". And the sunsets from the beach are beautiful, especially with a few clouds thrown in! So, would I recommend this hotel to a friend? Probably not. At least not until I could be sure that they would be able to relax without the stresses we had. It is expensive and I don't think that anyone should find a room that isn't a haven in this price range
